Stages of Keyboard Lessons

Learning how to play the keyboard is very systematic. You have to start from the basic going to the more complex stage.  What are the steps in learning this fantastic musical instrument?

Keyboard lessons – what it composed of:

Phase 1 - Building the Foundation

ü  Proper Fingering

It is advisable for the student that the fingers should stay curved and at all times should be relaxed. Finger numbers are usually used as a transient replace for note names at the preparatory lessons.

Phase 2 - The basics in playing the keyboard.

Phase 5 - The Chords.

Triad is the most usual type of chord. On the other hand, the most basic chord in music is the major chord. The first, second, and third interval must be a major in order for a chord to be a major.

Phase 6 - Mixing it up

Modulation is a technique to add tonal variations in the piece you are playing. But these techniques will not be discussed deeply in this lesson, since it calls for a more advanced knowledge in playing the keyboard.

Phase 7 - The Species one Counterpoint.

In the last stage of lesson for the beginner keyboard players, the rules of species one counterpoint will be discussed. This process of playing originated 16th century ago. The method of writing and playing this counterpoint is complicated. Another term for species one counterpoint is voice leading.
